OpenSees

In addition to downloading STKO, YOU WILL NEED to install or compile OpenSees. Here are several different options:

• OpenSees 3.2.2 compiled by prof. Nicola Tarque, Pontifical Catholic University of Peru (website here)
Features: Sequential OpenSees, Parallel OpenSees, Continuous Updates

  1. Download the precompiled version of OpenSees (sequential) and OpenSeesMP (parallel)
  2. Install them in the folder C:\OpenSees-Solvers (Default location)

 

• Sequential OpenSees compiled by prof. Xin-Zheng LU, Tsinghua University, China (website here)
Features: Sequential OpenSees

  1. Download the precompiled version of OpenSees (sequential)
  2. Put the executable in the folder C:\OpenSees-Solvers (If this file doesn’t exist, you will need to create it)

 

• OpenseesforFire compiled by OpenSees for Fire Group
Features: Sequential OpenSees, Specific for Modeling Structures on Fire

  1. Download the precompiled version of OpenSees (sequential)
  2. Put the executable in the folder C:\OpenSees-Solvers (If this file doesn’t exist, you will need to create it)

 

• EPFL version by the Earthquake Engineering and Structural Dynamics laboratory École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (website here)

  1. Download and compile the source code
  2. Put the executable in the folder C:\OpenSees-Solvers (If this file doesn’t exist, you will need to create it)

 

• OpenSees 3.2.2 Official Version
Features: Sequential OpenSees

  1. Download a precompiled version of OpenSees
  2. Or Download and compile the source code
  3. Put the executable in the folder C:\OpenSees-Solvers (If this file doesn’t exist, you will need to create it)

 

• Your own custom version or your preferred Github Fork Version

  1. Compile the source code
  2. Put the executable in the folder C:\OpenSees-Solvers (If this file doesn’t exist, you will need to create it)

If Opensees solvers are installed in C:\OpenSees-Solvers, STKO will automatically detect those solvers. Otherwise, use the Kits command in STKO to tell STKO where the OpenSees solvers are.

NOTE: If you want to use the MPCO Recorder for postprocessing in STKO, you need to have HDF5 1.10.1 DLLs installed in a location visible to your OpenSees solver. Option 1 of the above list takes care of all necessary dependencies. If you don’t know how to install all of the necessary dependencies, you can use option 1.
