Project objectives:
INTERCONNECTING aims to develop an integrated digital platform for the management and analysis of heterogeneous data from multisensor systems and historical-critical research sources. The project is based on the use of Digital Twin models, aimed at identifying vulnerable areas and predicting future scenarios through multi-risk analysis. The integration of virtual reality and multi-criteria decision-making methods allows for the definition of optimal intervention strategies based on the use of innovative and sustainable materials.

Project objectives (structured hierarchically according to a bottom-up strategy):

Ob1 – Data usability 
Collect, store, and manage quantitative data (geometric, morphological, environmental, material conservation) and qualitative data (images, historical documentation) for use by Spoke 7 affiliates.

Ob2 – Improvement of modeling 
Enhance the modeling techniques of historical structures through the use of surrogate models, improving the computational efficiency of risk analysis.

Ob3 – Implementation of Digital Twins
Develop digital models to simulate the response of built cultural heritage to past and potential risk events.

Ob4 – Identification of vulnerable areas and climate impact analysis
Use the data collected and calculation tools to identify high-risk areas related to climate change, integrating information from the ‘Risk Map’ of the Central Institute for Restoration (MiC).

Ob5 – Green materials and methodologies
Create a catalog of environmentally friendly materials for the restoration of cultural heritage, adaptable to different construction techniques and contexts.

Ob6 – Conservation planning
Develop conservation strategies based on available data, establishing priorities for intervention on built heritage.

Ob7 – Creation of an integrated virtual reality platform
Create an advanced digital platform to: manage and integrate data; conduct immersive simulations; perform numerical analyses using digital twins; apply multi-criteria decision-making methods; plan sustainable interventions in terms of techniques and materials used.
