San José De Los Molinos Church
Ica
Peru, 2016
Client: Ica District
The goal of this preliminary project was to restore and reconstruct the San José de Los Molinos Church in the San José de Los Molinos district in Ica, Peru.
The church sustained a great deal of structural damage during the 2007 Peru earthquake, including the total collapse of the roof and the main façade, as well as a collapse of the walls around the central nave.
The church is composed of the central nave, the bell tower, and the parish complex. The goal of the project was the static and seismic retrofitting of the existing structures to preserve them and to recover and reinforce the existing materials such as adobe (mudbricks), quincha (wattle and daub), and madera (hardwood).
