Flyeye Telescope

Monte Mufara

Italy, 2017- 2018
Client: OHB Italia Spa

The telescope, nicknamed ‘Flyeye’, is an innovative telescope developed by ESA that splits the view into several smaller subimages, significantly expanding the field of view, just as a fly’s compound eye does.
ASDEA performed a linear dynamic analysis for OHB Italia to evaluate the magnitude of accelerations that affect the telescope with a special focus on its delicate optics.

ASDEA also designed the base of the telescope to prevent the frequencies of the base from modifying the behavior of the telescope itself during a seismic event.
