Join the 2025 Workshop on Seismic Isolation and Energy Dissipation in Porto

We are thrilled to share with our readers another fascinating workshop organized by FEUP. Elevate your expertise and stay ahead in our field by participating in the internationally recognized training workshop, “Design of Advanced Techniques for Seismic Protection: Seismic Isolation and Energy Dissipation,” taking place 8–10 July 2025 in Porto, Portugal.

Led by esteemed lecturers from top European universities—including Prof. Guido Camata of the University of Chieti-Pescara and partner of ASDEA—this continued education workshop is meticulously tailored for civil, structural, and earthquake engineers aiming to deepen their knowledge in seismic protection, base isolation, and energy dissipation systems using the latest seismic design methodologies like the Direct Displacement-Based Design (DDBD) method.

Why Attend This Seismic Protection Training Workshop?

In an increasingly earthquake-prone world, modern structural engineers must stay current with innovative seismic design strategies. This 3-day technical workshop covers:

  • Energy Dissipation Techniques: Use hysteretic dampers (HD) and viscous devices (VD) in reinforced concrete structures. How to strategically integrate them to absorb seismic energy, enhancing structural resilience.
  • Application of Direct Displacement-Based Design (DDBD) Method: Hands-on exercises using real-world case studies for both isolated and damped structures, allowing for more precise and performance-driven seismic engineering.
  • Nonlinear Time History Analysis (NLTHA): Practical sessions using MidasGen software, for rigorous structural verification of complex seismic systems.
  • Seismic Isolation Systems: Learn how to decouple structures from ground motion, significantly reducing seismic forces and protecting buildings from damage.
  • Eurocode Compliance (EN 1998-1:2024 & EN 15129:2018): Understand the latest regulatory aspects and verification criteria for seismic protection systems to ensure your designs meet current standards.
  • Earn 24 educational hours and a certificate.

Meet the Experts:

Your panel of distinguished lecturers from leading institutions across Europe brings a wealth of academic knowledge and practical experience.

Lecturers include:

  • Guido Camata (University of Chieti-Pescara, ASDEA, Italy)
