Sustainability is the future, and in today’s world, it’s crucial that new buildings and renovations be consciously designed with sustainability in mind. That’s why Asdea S.R.L. is proud to announce that we now have an in-house LEED Green Associate. We would like to congratulate Eng. Erika di Pietro, who recently passed the exam held by Green Business Certification Inc.
The company has been a member of GBC Italy for several years, and Eng. di Pietro participated in the course offered by GBC Italy in preparation for the exam, which is compliant with UNI CEI EN ISO/IEC 17024: 2004.
LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) is a rating system for green buildings that takes a holistic approach to sustainability, according to the Triple Bottom Line principles of planet, people (comfort), and profit. The certification system identifies and scores the main characteristics of the building, focusing primarily on energy, environmental quality, and comfort but also looking at water consumption and sustainability of the identified site, among other things.
When asked about her goals after participating in the course, Eng. di Pietro said, ” I would like to focus on the two issues that I think will be at the center of the construction world in the coming years: sustainability and the digitization of the built environment with BIM (Building Information Modeling).”
Instead, when speaking about the aspects of the course that she found most engaging, Eng. di Pietro explained,
“The part I found most interesting from among the topics addressed by LEED was the subject of the internal comfort of buildings. Things such as temperature, humidity, and internal air quality can often negatively or positively impact the productivity of those in the indoor environment, meaning that they are aspects that should not be overlooked.”
